Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: Do I need rafting experience?
A: Nope! Our trips are designed for beginners and first‑timers. Our rafts are very safe and will easily float up to 6 guests.
Q: What should I bring?
A: Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothes, water‑friendly shoes, sunscreen, a towel, and a smile! Water and food in a cooler.
Q: Are kids allowed?
A: Absolutely! Kids 9 and under raft FREE with a paying adult. Kids 9 and under raft free with 3 paying guests in each raft. The minimum weight to safely ride in our rafts is 30 pounds.
Q: What if the weather’s bad?
A: At Indian Head Canoes, we’re committed to giving you a fun, memorable, and safe day on the river—rain or shine! Most trips can still enjoy the beauty of the Delaware even with a little rain. We only pause operations when the National Park Service determines that river levels are too high for safe adventure. Your safety always comes first.
Because the weather can change quickly in the mountains, we make all rain-day decisions the morning of your trip, based on the real-time conditions right here at Indian Head Canoes. This ensures every decision is accurate, fair, and in your best interest.
If rain-day policies are activated, you’re welcome to postpone or cancel your trip at least one hour before your scheduled start time and receive a raincheck valid for a full year. Use it anytime you’re ready to come back and enjoy the river!
Please note:
Trips canceled less than one hour before the scheduled departure—or guests who do not arrive—will forfeit their deposit and are not eligible for a raincheck.
