At 5 hours of leisurely paddling, this trip is geared toward those who want to spend most of the day on the water. Paddle under the historic Roebling Bridge (dating back to 1849), along the Delaware and Hudson Canal, used in the early 1800’s to transport coal to New York City, and American author Zane Grey’s house. While canoeing or kayaking this section, you are reminded of the spectacular beauty of the great outdoors in the Pocono and Catskill Mountains.
Get an early start for this trip and pack plenty of water to drink. Toward the end of your trip, after passing under the Roebling Bridge, stay on the middle to left side of the river. Exit the river on the left side, about 1 mile after the bridge.
For those who want a longer paddle. At 5 hours of leisure paddling, plan more time to swim, picnic, or relax.
